Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of MapZap (the "App"), developed by Lukas Ehlers ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing, or playing MapZap, you agree to these terms. If you're under the age of consent for online services in your country, please have a parent or guardian review these terms with you.

1. The app and your license to use it

We grant you a personal, non‑exclusive, non‑transferable, revocable license to install and use MapZap on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non‑commercial entertainment, subject to these terms and the App Store / Google Play terms you accepted when downloading it.

2. Accounts

You can play MapZap anonymously, or link your progress to an Apple or Google account. You're responsible for keeping access to your linked sign‑in method secure. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, cheat, or abuse other players.

3. Fair play

To keep MapZap fun for everyone, you agree not to:

• Use cheats, bots, exploits, or modified clients to gain an unfair advantage
• Harass, impersonate, or send abusive content to other players (e.g. in nicknames or duel messages)
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract game assets except as allowed by law
• Resell, rent, or commercially exploit the App or its virtual items

4. Virtual items and currency

MapZap contains virtual currency (coins), chests, and cosmetic items (pin colors, outfits, finishes). These:

• Have no real‑world monetary value and cannot be exchanged for real money or transferred outside the App
• Are licensed to you, not sold; we may adjust, rebalance, or discontinue them as the game evolves
• Are forfeited if your account is terminated for violating these terms

5. Subscriptions (MapZap Pro)

MapZap Pro, where offered, is an auto‑renewing subscription billed through the App Store or Google Play. Pricing, trial terms, and billing cycle are shown in the app and in the store listing before you purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. We cannot cancel or refund purchases directly, as all billing is handled by Apple/Google under their own refund policies.

6. Content and clues

Locations, facts, and images used as guessing clues are curated for accuracy and fairness, but the world is complex: if you spot something that looks wrong, please tell us at support@mapzap.app and we'll take a look.

7. Intellectual property

MapZap, its name, the Pinni character, artwork, and code are owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright and trademark law. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of the App or its content to you.

8. Disclaimer of warranty

MapZap is provided "as is". We do our best to keep it fun, fair, and available, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error‑free, or available forever. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, our liability for damages arising from your use of MapZap is limited to what's foreseeable and typical for this type of app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under German or EU law, such as liability for intent, gross negligence, or personal injury.

10. Changes to the app or these terms

We may update MapZap's features and these terms as the game evolves. If we make material changes to these terms, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by German law. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of any mandatory consumer‑protection laws of the country you live in.
